Everlasting takeaway cup was almost there

I WAS quite excited to try out the first barista standard reusable cup, named "Keep Cup". It boasts that it keeps coffee warm for 20 minutes and it’s eco-friendly as it saves you having to use throw away plastic cups.

I liked the idea, I have to admit I’m a sucker for Starbucks and I thought this could come in handy. But then I thought about it more carefully, would I really go into a busy coffee shop and hand over my plastic cup? Probably not, I’d feel a bit of an idiot if I’m honest. But then I thought of another great use for it. The mornings are my nemesis, I’m forever getting out of bed 10 minutes later than I should and therefore I never have time to drink my morning tea. So I thought, perfect, I can pour my tea into the "Keep Cup" and drink it when I get to work.

The cup itself looks quite cool, and I felt I wouldn’t be ashamed walking into my busy office with my Keep Cup. So I tried it out, and sadly I was very disappointed.

I obviously washed the cup before I used it, but the smell of plastic was overwhelming. So I tried it again, but the second time around I couldn’t drink my tea, it was that bad. And now? I don’t even want to give it a third go, because the smell puts me off that much. Very disappointing, because I loved the idea of it.
