Police probe Dingwall house fire

By Claire Doughty

POLICE are investigating a blaze at house in Dingwall.

Firefighters tackled the fire in the roof of the single storey building in Firth View.

The incident was reported at about 6.45pm on Monday.

Crews from Dingwall and Beauly successfully extinguished the flames and no one was hurt.

Thermal imaging cameras were used to identify hotspots in the loft area and firefighters removed roof tiles to ensure the fire had been completely put out.

Neighbours said the single-storey, one-bedroom property is owned by middle-aged joiner Donald Junor, a widower living on his own.

Mr Junor, who is understood to have moved in with relatives meantime, was unavailable for comment, as was the sole occupant of the neighbouring cottage, Alastair Robertson.
