SUTHERLAND Bowling Association held their County Rinks competition on the Dornoch green with only six teams taking part – two from each club.

After winning through in the first round against Dornoch and Golspie opposition, both Brora teams competed in the first semi-final. Alister Macleod’s rink of Gordon Ronald, Provan Ronald and Margaret Macleod won through to the final against Carl Anderson, John Floydd, Mary Anderson and Margaret Sutherland.

The other semi saw the Golspie rink of George Mowat, Robin Colvin, Keith Legg and John Mackay win against Jimmy Munro’s rink from Dornoch.

In a very closely-fought final it was the Brora rink who came out on top by 15 shots to 14 to lift the trophy.
