POLICE are appealing for witnesses following two incidents in Lossiemouth earlier today.

Firstly, a disturbance was reported involving three men at Forties Place at around 1.20am this morning.

Then, at noon, a 27-year-old man was assaulted in Faroes Court. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Detective Sergeant John Lumsden said: "We are keeping an open mind as to whether these two incidents are linked and would ask that anyone who has any information that would assist our enquiries gets in touch.

"Faroes Court and Forties Place are in close proximity and we would ask that anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area in the early hours of today gets in touch with us by phoning 101 and quoting reference number CF0249191018, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.

"Two men aged 16 and 22 have been arrested and are assisting us with our enquiries."
