Local farmer dies in A82 crash

THE man who died in a fatal road accident south of Drumnadrochit on Saturday has been named as 37-year-old Thomas Evan Girvan.

Mr Girvan, known locally as Evan, was a farmer from Glenmoriston.

He died from his injuries after the accident on the A82, when his car collided with a German tour bus carrying school children.

His dog also died in the crash.

Police investigations are continuing. Anyone who witnessed the accident, which happened around 1pm, or has information which could assist the investigation is asked to contact their nearest police station, by telephoning 0845 600 5703.

There were 22 people on the bus, two of whom sustained minor injuries and were taken to Raigmore Hospital.

The road was closed to traffic in both directions for several hours and a diversion was put in place.
