Motorists travelling on the A9 Inverness-Perth road are being warned of roadworks on the stretch from the River Dulnain to Carrbridge.

They will be in place for nine nights from Monday to improve one kilometre of the road surface.

A BEAR Scotland spokeswoman said: "The works on a 1km section of the A9 across the A938 Carrbridge Junction will involve resurfacing the road to make it more durable and resilient against inclement weather, as well as providing a smoother and safer road for motorists.

"The project will begin on Monday and is scheduled to take place for nine nights, avoiding working on the busier Friday or Saturday nights.

"The works will take place between 7pm and 7am each night.

"To keep all roadworkers as well as road users safe during the project, a 10mph convoy system will be in place throughout the improvements each night." The junction across the A938 at Carrbridge will remain open throughout the project, however, it will be controlled by three-way traffic lights for safety. The road will be open as normal during the day.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said: "The surfacing improvements will help address the defects on this section of the A9 and greatly improve the road surface for motorists.

"We’ve planned the works to take place overnight and are avoiding working at the weekends to limit the impact on motorists.

"We’ve carried out consultation with all relevant stakeholders to inform them of our plans, and our teams will do all they can to carry out the surfacing improvements at this section of the A9 as quickly and safely as possible.

"We thank motorists in advance for their patience and we encourage all road users to plan their journeys in advance and leave some extra time to reach their destination."

The road improvements from Dulnain to Carrbridge are part of a wider £24m programme of surfacing improvements across over 200 locations on the North West trunk road network taking place this year.
