A99 crash closes road

A SECTION of the A99 near Hempriggs was closed for more than three hours yesterday after an accident involving two cars and a stationary marked police vehicle.

Nobody is believed to have been seriously injured in the incident which happened just before 11am.

The police vehicle was assisting with the movement of an abnormal load.

Police Scotland confirmed the accident occurred around 10.50am. The road was closed for three-and-a-half hours but reopened at 2.20pm after all three vehicles were recovered.

A police spokesman said: "A 65-year-old woman has been charged with a road traffic offence in connection with the incident."
