The area outside the Eastgate Centre was awash with red, white and blue as people watched Prince William marry Kate Middleton on a specially set up big screen.

At the celebrations local musicians Kirsty-Anne MacFarlane and friends performed and food and drinks were also available.

Throughout the Highlands over 30 schools celebrated the much anticipated wedding with organised events and activities involving over 4,000 pupils, teachers and local communities.

Many schools organised mock weddings, street parties, and wedding feasts.

At Balloch Primary School pupils and teachers dressed up for the occasion in wedding attire including a top hats and tiaras.

Whilst at Cauldeen Primary School the pupils came dressed as princes and princesses and pupils watched the ceremony on Smart Board big screens in their classes;

Acting Head Teacher, Lesley McPherson said: "During the lead up to the wedding, pupils have been designing a wedding dress, making crowns, decorations and memorabilia."
