Red

By SPP Reporter

THIS is a delight of a tongue-in-cheek action adventure with four big name stars – Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkovich and Helen Mirren – on top form hamming it up big style.

“Red” stands for “Retired: Extremely Dangerous” – a CIA term for the four ex-agents who suddenly find death squads out to prematurely end their sunset years.

But forget the plot which has more holes in it than the bullet-riddled retirement house Willis escapes from in the early sequences as he realises his pension plan is not all he thought it would be.

The movie is all about the inter-action between the stars as they look to be having great fun as they join forces one last time to do battle with dark forces in a series of explosive action scenes.

Memorable highlights include Malkovich using his baseball skills to deflect a grenade attack and Dame Helen wielding and assault rifle to keep an army of agents at bay.

It’s like Die Hard with a smile – great fun! PB
