PEOPLE looking for something to do on Easter Monday are being invited to have a fintastic day dolphin watching at Fort George.

The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society and Historic Scotland at Fort George are challenging people to test out their dolphin spotting skills at the event which runs between 11am and 4pm.

Visitors can also explore the vast garrison fortress with its grand magazine, historic barrack rooms and unusual dog cemetery.

WDCS Scottish Conservation Officer Alison Lomax said: "The anticipation of not knowing is what makes wildlife watching such a thrill! The first splash of a dolphin leaping out of the water or the glimpse of a fin as the animal travels smoothly through the waves can surprise and excite no-matter how many times it happens.

"Seeing whales and dolphins in their natural environment is an amazing experience and we are encouraging people to come down to Fort George on April 25 to find out for themselves about the wildlife that is right on their doorstep."

For more information about the event and activities, please contact WDCS Wildlife Centre, on 01343 820 339 or email shorewatch@wdcs.org or Historic Scotland on 01346 532017.
