JAMIE McCart says he is willing to be patient to get his chance to break into the first team at Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

The defender who moved to the Caledonian Stadium during the summer from Celtic has yet to start a league match in the Scottish Championship.

He says he is looking for a chance to break into the starting line-up on a regular basis as ICT face his former club Alloa Athletic on Saturday afternoon.

He did start in the 2-1 Irn-Bru Cup first round defeat against Dunfermline Athletic, their last game 10 days ago, but hopes there will be a chance where he can start more often.

“Obviously I’ve not played many minutes in the league so sometimes you have to be patient and wait for different scenarios,” he said.

“It is frustrating, but you just have to deal with it.”

McCart (21) spent last season on loan at Alloa Athletic from Celtic where he helped them gain promotion to the Championship via the League One play-offs.

The Clackmannanshire part-timers have lost both their league games so far but McCart says they will pose a danger to Inverness.

“Obviously it has been tough for them, they lost quite a lot of boys and they are going through a transition.

“But in their first game of the season they lost in the last minute to Ross County and hopefully they kick on after this weekend and get a few results.

“They’ve got a few tidy players from last season like striker Kevin Cawley.

“They’ve also brought in Greg Spence from Raith Rovers who always has a goal in him.

“Also midfielder Steven Hetherington is a really important player for them and captain Andy Graham holds everything at the back.

“They have a strong spine to their team.”

While disappointed ICT were not in League Cup second round action last weekend, McCart says having extra time off has given them the chance to focus on what they need to do to be successful in the league this season.

“It is a home game where we will be hoping to take the three points. After a good weekend off it was chance to refresh our minds.

“We should be going into every game thinking we should be winning. It is a tough league in the Championship with the teams that got relegated last year so I think we look at every game we should be winning, but especially at home we should be looking at all three points.

“We’re unbeaten so far this season. It was a good result away to Falkirk in the first game but a wee bit disappointed with the draw against Ayr especially with them going a man down.

“But it is early stages.”
