POLICE are appealing for assistance from anyone who was driving on the A98 between Portsoy and Macduff last Friday, August 24 at around 8pm.

Officers are investigating a report of an assault that occurred by the side of the road between Banff and Whitehills where a 36-year-old male pedestrian was assaulted by two men who had been within a small white car. The victim was left upset by the incident but not injured.

Investigating Officer PC Logan Masson of the Banff Community Policing Team said: "The road would have been relatively busy at that time of night and it is understood that a number of drivers may have witnessed the altercation.

"I would ask that anyone who saw this or who has dash cam footage from this incident, get in touch with us on 101 quoting reference 4148 of August 24.

"Information can also be given anonymously by calling the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
