The event was organised by the Moray Inshore Rescue Organisation (MIRO) and attracted over 200 visitors to Findhorn Marina to watch six rafts take to the sea.

The hey are built by the competing team members, with some vessels proving to be more sea-worthy than others.

It was a battle against the wind for the sailors for the first half of the race but they found the final stretch easier with the wind on their backs.

The crew that won by a very clear margin was Team ‘You Can Not Be Serious!’, representatives from Findhorn Coastal Rowing Club with a topical Wimbledon theme to the raft, including a artificial grass and tennis net.

A special award was made to the young people in the Royal Findhorn Yacht Club team who built their raft during the annual Sea Cadet week.

Peter Mackenzie, Operations Manager for MIRO, said "I would like to thank Findhorn Marina for hosting the raft race, the many local businesses for their generous donations for the raffle, tombola and barbecue, the visitors and local people who supported the raft race.

"Last but not least, I would also like to thank the MIRO volunteers who made the raft race happen."

All funds raised will go towards MIRO, who are collecting donations to replace the current MIRO rescue boat in order to maintain the 24 hours-a-day, 365-day capability.

You can donate through ordering product of Amazon Smile, by selecting the charity who you would like to benefit from the products that you buy.

MIRO are also looking for volunteers. See www.morayinshorerescue.org for more information.
