THURSO lifeboat The Taylors was called out on Sunday (May 22) to escort a local creel boat back to Scrabster harbour.

The launch of the RNLI lifeboat was requested after worsening weather conditions in Thurso Bay started to cause the two-man crew difficulties in returning safely to port.

The RNLI volunteer crew was paged at 3.23pm and on scene by 3.30pm. The creel boat was positioned three quarters of a mile from Thurso East.

Strengthening force-seven westerly winds and rough seas had been preventing the vessel from making safe headway back to Scrabster, with oncoming waves splashing water aboard.

The Taylors escorted the creel boat back to port by 3.45pm.
