BUCKIE Thistle have signed former Ross County defender Sam Morrison on a two-year deal.

Jags snapped up the 19-year-old earlier this summer, only to pull out on the deal when Premiership Motherwell moved in to sign him.

However, Morrison's switch to Fir Park has fallen through, meaning Buckie could reignite their interest and bring him in at the second attempt.

The centre back is currently injured but will soon be in the reckoning for a place in manager Graeme Stewart's side.

A Buckie spokesperson said: "Sam's move to Motherwell didn't quite go through so we are delighted to announce that he has signed a 2 year deal with the Jags."

Jags boss Stewart said: "He trained with us in pre season last year he's stretched a lot since then and he's obviously improved a lot with playing with better players up at Ross County in the Premier League.

"With them getting relegated they couldn't offer a lot of their players full-time contract so he got released.

"I think he's got a lot of potential."

Buckie also signed fellow teenagers Lee Herbert and Lucas Davidson, who had been on County's books, as well as young midfielder Jack Walker.
