Austin looking to take his chances at Caley Thistle

NATHAN Austin would love the chance to start at one of his lucky grounds on Saturday in the Kingdom of Fife.

But the Caley Thistle striker knows he may have to take his chance from the bench with manager John Robertson contemplating team changes for the trip to East End Park.

Austin was only 20 when he hit the clincher for East Fife away to this weekend’s hosts Dunfermline Athletic in a League One derby encounter in March 2014.

Just over three years later, he was again the match-winning hero for Falkirk as they triumphed by the same 2-1 margin.

The Pars and their support would certainly be wary of Austin stepping out against them given past performances, but the 24-year-old frontman admits he is unsure of his place.

While he hit three League Cup goals, Austin is still chasing his first in the league.

And Robertson’s frustration at the failure to kill off 10-man Alloa Athletic last weekend had him contemplating about blooding younger squad members.
