Jasmine's birthday boost for Archie

By SPP Reporter

ELGIN woman Jasmine Mone wanted to help children less fortunate than herself.

So, instead of asking for presents when she celebrated her 21st birthday, Jasmine, of Milnefield Avenue, asked for donations to the Moray Friends of Archie Appeal instead.

That saw her raise an amazing £481 for the Dr Gray’s Children’s Ward appeal.

"I feel that I have been so lucky over the last 21 years," said Jasmine, "so I wanted to do something that would help make a positive difference to other people’s lives.

"I am absolutely over the moon with the total and overwhelmed by everyone’s generosity. It made my 21st so special," she added.

The appeal aims to provide an enhanced environment for youngsters at the 11-bed children’s ward in Dr Gray’s Hospital.

NHS Grampian has a planned refurbishment of the ward in the pipeline and the Archie appeal will pay for things like beds for parents, family room and play equipment.

The appeal was launched at the end of November and has raised in excess of £45,000.
