A team of amputee soldiers will help drive a horse-drawn ambulance 1000 miles from Land’s End to John o Groats to raise money for wounded members of the armed services.

They will leave Land’s End tomorrow morning and hope to be in Caithness by next Wednesday (29) having passed through Sutherland on the A9.

Horses Help Heroes (HHH) is a new charity appeal supported by HRH Prince William, and an offshoot of Help for Heroes. The mission is to drive the 1000 miles to raise £1 million to deliver direct practical support to wounded members of the armed forces.

Driving non-stop, day and night, the HHH team hope to complete the challenge in less than ten days.

The ambulance will be driven the 1000 miles by Jacks El Tawil, a Wiltshire-based paramedic, along with a number of amputee soldiers.

Along the journey the team of horses, riders and soldiers will be stopping in order to enable local horse lovers, fundraisers and the larger population to participate.

All the money raised is going to ‘Help for Heroes’ who are distributing it between BLESMA Limbless Veterans, Combat Stress and ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.
