This is the fourth year of the charity event organised by Lossiemouth-based air ambulance paramedic Kris O’Neill.

The cars will leave from Cooper Park at 10.30am before embarking on a 560 mile journey around the North Coast 500 route, including an overnight stop in Ullapool where there will be a charity auction and live music before starting early on Sunday to complete the rest of the journey.

The inspiration for the event was Kris’ younger brother Liam who has a rare genetic disease called Marfan syndrome that effects the connective tissue around the body. Liam has had serious operations from a young age and his brother Kris wanted to help out the charity by way of raising money through the car event. It also supports the Scottish charity air ambulance service an immediate life saving service that relies on donations to fly.

The start of the charity car run is part of the food and drink festival taking place in Elgin on Saturday.

Due to a forecast of high winds, the festival is now being held in Elgin Town Hall and the St Giles shopping centre.

There will be chef demonstrations and a range of exhibitors from 10am.

There is parking in nearby Lossie Green car park all day for £1.
