Ross road reopens after explosives scare
Police have made safe an old item of ordnance
BOMB disposal experts are heading north to deal with an explosive device which was discovered in Easter Ross.
Shore Road in Invergordon was closed for about four hours after after a member of the public reported having found an old item of ordnance near the Donkey Bridge.
Residents from six nearby houses were also advised to stay indoors.
A police spokeswoman said the road had now reopened.
She said: "It was considered safe enough to let people pass and measures have been put in place to ensure public safety.
"Explosive Ordnance Disposal specialists are coming up to deal with the device and they will assess if it is safe enough to move, or carry out a controlled explosion."
It is thought the device is an old World War II hand grenade.
Invergordon served as a military base and port during both World War I and World War II.
