Police are appealing for information after a woman died following a head-on collision on a country road.

The crash happened on the B996 between the A912 Bein Inn Road and Glenfarg in Perthshire at around 3pm on Saturday.

Police said a black Nissan Micra was travelling from Glenfarg towards Perth and a white Dacia Duster was travelling in the opposite direction when the vehicles collided.

The female drivers of the vehicles were taken to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.

The 82-year-old driver of the Micra died on Monday, police said.

The woman, 58, who was driving the Duster remains in hospital.

Police Scotland Sergeant John McDiarmid said: “Our inquiries into this collision are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the crash to get in touch.

“If you have dashcam, please check the footage for anything of significance. Any information could prove vital as we establish the full circumstances of the incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2226 of July 12.
