Fraser ready for Ross County return
Marcus Fraser says that he is ready to return from injury ahead of this afternoon’s Highland derby.
Ross County’s captain picked up a knock against Hibernian in the Betfred Cup back in August, and has been on the sidelines ever since.
He returned to the matchday squad last weekend against Greenock Morton and away to Falkirk on Tuesday, but he was not called upon from the substitutes bench.
And Fraser says that after weeks of building his fitness back up, he is now all set to return to action.
"The first x-ray that we got, nothing really came up," he explained.
"I spoke to the surgeon, and that’s not unusual for that to happen.
"When I went to see a specialist, there was a small fracture in the bone, just on the outside of my fibula, so that’s why I was getting a bit of discomfort when I was trying to do a bit of training.
"I worked hard with the physio Kevin Bain, he did well with me and I’m back now.
"I’m raring to go, the last two weeks has been the best I’ve felt since the injury happened.
"When I first came back it was a bit stop-start. But I feel good, I’m back to normal, that’s the best part of two weeks training under my belt now.
"The managers are big on that, making sure that when you come back from injury you show that you’re fit enough in training.
"I think I’ve done that in the last week or so, I’ve been trying hard."
Fraser has only lost one of the six Highland derbies that he has played in.
But against an Inverness side who have drawn six games in a row, he is still expecting a tough challenge at the Caledonian Stadium this afternoon.
"They’ve been solid I think," Fraser said.
"You can see that with their results, they don’t get beaten often.
"They’ve got a good record, I don’t know how many games they’re unbeaten now but you can see that they’re tough to beat.
"That’s obviously a good mentality, they might be saying to themselves that they need to win more games, and that’s what they’ll look to do.
"At the end of the season I think they will be there or thereabouts, because they are a good side.
"I’ve been fortunate enough that when I’ve played there I’ve always had quite good games, and I’ve managed to get a lot of positive results.
"Hopefully that can continue, and I think we’ll bring a good support as well.
"That’s good for the boys to have a bit of backing, and hopefully they can make a bit of noise and we can put a good performance on for them."
