A ROSS-SHIRE man has been fined for possessing the Class A drug cocaine at a nightspot in Inverness.

Jamie Bremner (38) of Davidson Drive admitted being in possession of cocaine at the Ironworks venue in Academy Street on December 27 last year.

Depute fiscal Ian Smith told Sheriff Alasdair MacFadyen at Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday that police were in the Ironworks at 10.10pm when they were told by an anonymous person there that there was a man with drugs. He then pointed towards Bremner.

Mr Smith said Bremner was warned by officers to keep his hands out of his pockets and he dropped a wrap of cocaine weighing 0.7 of a gramme on the floor.

Ken Ferguson, solicitor, said Bremner was shocked at being taken to court and he didn’t intend to use the drug again.

Sheriff MacFadyen, fining Bremner £650, said the fact he had told the court he did not intend to use the drug again would be noted should he ever appear in court again on such a charge.
