113mph A9 driver caught as police op nabs 17 speeders

A SECOND driver has been clocked by road safety cops on the A9 travelling well in excess of 100mph.
In the latest crackdown between 7am yesterday morning and 7am today a driver was recorded speeding at 113mph in a 60mph zone on the trunk road near Halkirk.
During the Easter holiday crackdown another motorist was nabbed on the A9 at Daviot doing 128mph and had his car impounded.
Seventeen people were caught speeding in the latest 24-hour operation.
A 39-year-old man will be now be subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the alleged offence near Halkirk.
In addition, 64 drivers were caught driving without wearing their seatbelts.
Inspector John Smith, Head of the Force's Road Policing Unit commented: "The fact that we are catching so many people clearly shows we have a responsibility to keep running campaigns like this and that the message is clearly being ignored by a number of people.
"They continue to put themselves and other road users at real risk and we will take robust action against anyone caught breaking either law."
