Five days to submit a bottle for Craigellachie whisky auction
THE deadline is looming as a Moray village council prepares to host its sixth annual whisky auction.
The group in Craigellachie are currently compiling the catalogue for the auction which will take place during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival on Sunday, May 6.
Previous events have attracted interest from local, national and international whisky fans and organisers are hoping for more success this year.
The highest bid at last year’s auction was £2100 for a Macallan Robbie Burns, while a selection of Manager’s Drams also attracted high offers.
Of the 111 lots, approximately £28,000 of sales were made with over £7000 going towards helping Craigellachie Village Council’s refurbishment of the hall and other amenities.
This year, Craigellachie-born Colin Fraser, who now works as a professional auctioneer in Edinburgh, will be in charge of the bidding.
Anyone interested in selling a bottle at the auction should submit a seller registration form which can be found at www.craigellachie.org.uk
Forms should be returned by email to jane@craig515.plus.com before 1pm on Saturday, April 21. All bottles must be delivered to Craigellachie Village Hall between 10am and 1pm the same day.
The catalogue for the auction will soon be available to view online and bidders can lodge pre-auction bids.
The hall will be open for viewing from noon on Sunday, May 6 and the auction will start at 2pm.
Entry is free and refreshments will be available to buy.
