Design award could be a real Turra coup

category in the Aberdeenshire Council’s design awards.

Bronchal Place in Aberchirder has also been nominated in the housing category.

First Minister Alex Salmond joined a near 1,000-strong crowd at Turriff in November 2010 at the unveiling of the long-awaited Turra Coo statue.

The original Coo made headlines in 1913 when farmer Robert Paterson, of Lendrum, Turriff, refused to stamp employees’ insurance cards with the national insurance tax which had been imposed by Liberal Chancellor David Lloyd George.
