Moray Council community support officer Sylvia Jamieson has confirmed that the Forres Green Spaces User Group (FGS), formed as a result of the Planning For Real Forres 2020 Vision project, is refocused on improving local play facilities after a summer break.

The Gazette asked for an update following calls on social media during the holidays for play equipment worthy of Grant Park’s beautiful surroundings.

It was pointed out that Nairn has a paddling pool, a number of play parks, a putting green and an outdoor gym at its beach links park.

Ms Jamieson explained: “The (local) playpark was number eight within the Forres 2020 Vision Action Plan priorities; not all actions can be tackled at one time and some priority has been given to the top themes under Environment and Sustainability.

“FGS had a break over the summer as this was peak time for many of the members regarding events, planting etc.”

The group were scheduled to meet on Monday, September 10 to discuss a joint management plan for Grant Park and Cluny Hill, facilitated by Ms Jamieson and Moray Council traffic engineer Ken Major.

However, through illness and holidays, the meeting was cancelled and is to be rescheduled.

“The planning of the public engagement around this will be part of the agenda,” said Ms Jamieson.

“All aspects of Grant Park will be part of this, including improving equipment, and I hope that we can bring interested folk from the community on board to help.”

She added: “Forres Sports Hub were trying to progress an outdoor gym. Anne Rossiter was using the Action Plan as evidence of need to assist with funding.”
