A FORRES shop may be granted a 24-hour licence despite objections from neighbours.

The Greshop Filling Station on Nairn Road, known locally as the Matrix, has applied for an extension of its opening hours, a decision which now rests with Moray Council's licensing committee.

Councillor George Alexander discussed the application at the last meeting of Forres Community Council.

He said: "Some of the neighbours are objecting as there were huge problems with antisocial behaviour when it had a similar licence 20 years ago.

"At that time, residents got the licence revoked in court.

"I believe there will be a licensing committee meeting which will take complaints into account before granting a new licence with conditions attached. However, this could be reversed after a trial period."
