Man arrested in Inverness shooting probe drama

ARMED police were called to an alleged shooting incident in a quiet rural settlement near Inverness.

A man was arrested and will appear in court following the drama at Myrtlefield, Westhill.

Police dashed to the scene just before 9am on Saturday, May 7, after the alarm was raised. The area was cordoned off by armed officers.

A spokesman for Northern Constabulary said: "A 66 year-old man was arrested following an alleged firearms incident at Myrtlefield.

"No-one was injured in the incident.

"The man was taken to Burnett Road police station in Inverness and released on bail pending further investigation.

"He is expected to appear in court on June 9 in connection with the incident."

Police forensic teams were also called to the scene and the cordon was lifted about 11.20am.
