It’s a happy bullday at Nethy’s Castle Roy
Strathspey’s Castle Roy is sending out invitations to Murdo’s 10th birthday next weekend. The magnificent Highland cow has defied expectations, thanks to the unwavering love and dedicated care provided by his sponsors and volunteers.
Originally not expected to see beyond his eighth year due to his troublesome joints,
Murdo has persevered, thriving under the tender care and regular massages.
“Now, as he reaches this momentous milestone we are overjoyed to invite our community
to share in this special occasion,” says Richard Eccles, chairman of Nethybridge’s Castle Roy Trust.
The festivities will include varied craft stalls and a raffle of pictures which have been
donated.
“We believe Murdo may very well be the most renowned Highland Cow in all of Scotland,” says Mr Eccles, “drawing admirers from far and wide who return time and again to enjoy his gentle spirit.
“But our celebration extends beyond Murdo alone. As guardians of Castle Roy, we recognise the vital role our volunteers play in maintaining this special space and the benefit it brings to our community.
“We are looking for more help!
“Any individuals, passionate about conservation and preservation to join us in our efforts, particularly in ground maintenance, path clearing, and mowing. With teamwork and shared responsibilities, these tasks become not burdensome, but fulfilling, opportunities to contribute to the upkeep of our historic grounds.
“And, also, we are looking for volunteers to assist with social media. Those who appreciate the importance of extending awareness by engaging with other platforms.
“Join us at Castle Roy on Saturday, June 15 as we celebrate Murdo ‘s journey and embark on a collective endeavour to preserve the beauty and legacy of this beloved landmark.
“Your presence and support are deeply appreciated as we commemorate a decade of Murdo ‘s indomitable spirit and the timeless allure of Castle Roy.”
