Multi million selling Irish rockers head to region
Organisers have announced that the Saturday night headliners at the Loopallu music festival will be the multi million selling indie band Ash.
The Irish rockers have had an incredible 18 top 40 singles to choose from including ‘Girl from Mars’, ‘Shining Light’, ‘Burn Baby Burn’, ‘Oh Yeah’ and ‘Goldfinger’.
With a career spanning 18 years, the group have lost none of the energy that saw them debut on Top Of The Pops whilst awaiting their ‘A’ level results and since notch up five studio albums.
A spokesman for the Ullapool festival said: "This is a very special booking for us all here as Ash were the first major act Beyond promoted in the Highlands ten years ago.
"Back in December 2001 the band came up and played two intimate shows, one in Inverness and the second here in Ullapool at The Seaforth ahead of the release of the bands most successful album ‘Free all Angels’."
This October will see the band go out to play some live dates to celebrate the 10th anniversary of that release.
Also appearing over the weekend are Friday night headliners The Feeling who have a back catalogue of hits to choose from including, ‘Never Be Lonely’, ‘Fill My Little World’, ‘Sewn’ and ‘Set My World On Fire’.
Also playing are one of the most influencial punk bands of the 70’s Buzzcocks; Fratellis frontman Jon Fratelli, Scotland’s fast rising stars Kassidy, Admiral Fallow, and Carrbridge’s Rachel Sermanni who will be treating fans to her last full band show of the year.
Tickets for Loopallu 2011 which takes place September 16 and 17 are completely sold out.
However, Ash will also be stopping off at The Ironworks in Inverness on Friday September 16 to play another special show.
They go on sale at 10am tomorrow (Saturday) and will be available from www.ironworksvenue.com, 0871 789 4173 or in person from the venue.
