MSP welcomes effort to bring high hedges down to size
Badenoch SNP MSP Dave Thompson has welcomed an effort by a party colleague to bring high hedges down to size.
His comments follow the launch of SNP MSP Mark McDonald’s High Hedges (Scotland) Bill.
The Bill aims to help those who have their sunlight blocked out from their gardens and end up in rows with neighbours over this.
Mr Thompson said: "I know, through speaking to constituents that high hedge disputes can cause a lot of stress and worry.
"Some constituent have indicated to me they feel there is little assistance available to deal with the problem.”
He added: "The introduction of this Bill will be an ideal opportunity for constituents, throughout Scotland, to make their views known and help shape it as it goes through the Parliamentary process.
“I am sure many constituents will read the Bill as published and I would encourage those with an interest to submit any evidence to the Local Government and Regeneration Committee of the Scottish Parliament as they are scrutinising the bill through the committee stages.”
