"Moving to Kingussie saved my life"
A one-time drug abuser who was at death’s door just five months ago has said that moving to Badenoch has saved his life.
Justin Pendleton (36) was in a coma for several days in April after overdosing, but he is now recovering and puts that down to his decision to uproot to the strath. He has a new and much healthier addiction – hill running and ultra marathons.
Mr Pendleton said: "I want to thank the strath and Scotland for accepting yet another mad English person into their home and helping them to feel worth something again."
He is still punishing his body but now by training for his first double marathon next year. He told the ‘Strathy’: "I’m done running from life – now I’m running for life.
"I moved to Kingussie from Shropshire in May to save myself from a life of darkness and to give my children a chance to have a happy upbringing as my life was spiralling out of control faster than I could handle."
Thanks to his Highland move, the running fanatic now has his life back on track.
