Motorists travelling overnight on the A86 between Newtonmore and Roy Bridge over the coming week are being advised to give more time for their journeys because of roadworks.

Scotland TranServ is carrying out essential road safety improvements and carriageway repairs on a number of sections along the route.

A special surface, to reduce skidding accidents is being laid at designated bends and prior to that patching work on the existing carriageway will be carried out to ensure the longevity of the high friction surfacing.

Other repairs to the existing carriageway surface in various locations have been brought forward to be included in this period to minimise the disruption to the travelling public in the future.

Work taking place between 10pm and 6am, involving a full road closure on the A86 between Newtonmore and the A889 junction south of Laggan, began on Monday and continues until today (Friday)

Work on the A86 between the A889 junction south of Laggan Village to Roy Bridge will begin this Monday and continue until Friday June 15.

Scotland TranServ says that during these times, vehicles will be escorted through the works when it is safe and practical to do so, probably every two hours during the closure.

It is anticipated that there will be no restrictions on traffic outwith the closure periods given.

Local access will be maintained as far as practicable and emergency services will have unrestricted access at all times.
