More turbines planned for Strathspey wind farm extension
Public views are to be sought on the plan to expand Strathspey's Tom na Clach Wind Farm.
Infinergy, together with Cawdor Estates, developed the operational scheme, submitting original plans in 2015.
Both parties always considered there to be potential for an extension to "this outstanding operational site" and now the company is looking to develop an extension proposal for up to seven more turbines for the public to consider as part of the pre-application consultation process.
Infinergy is planning to hold two in-person open days next week in addition to publishing a consultation page on its website.
"All of the appropriate Covid-19 guidance will be followed at these events," said project director Nick Sage, "but if members of the public don’t feel comfortable visiting in person all of the information will be available on the new project website here"
Community Open days are:
Wednesday October 27 at The Strathdearn, Tomatin from 2pm to 7pm.
Thursday Octobre 28 at Carrbridge Village Hall from 1pm to 5.30pm.
“We are looking forward to seeing communities in person after such a long break," said Mr Sage.
"Tom na Clach is an outstanding operational wind farm, with almost double the energy production compared to the UK average and the proposed extension will make use of the existing infrastructure, which means less disruption
during construction.”
All the information on display at the public events is also available to view on the website from today.
Live ‘chat’ sessions will take place on:
Tuesday November 2 from 2-4pm and 5-7pm
Wednesday November 3 from 2-4pm and 5-7pm.
