It had only recently seen traffic moving again after fire crews put out a car fire.

No one was injured in the earlier incident which was reported just before 12.30pm.

Fire crews extinguished the fire earlier today, with appliances from Inverness on duty on the A9 southbound just past Tomatin junction.

A motorist who saw the fire crews arrive said the car was well alight.

"The flames were engulfing the whole of the car," he said.

He said the incident also resulted in long tailbacks.

Police officers were also called to the scene.

But there have been no details yet about the later incident.
