Two more cases of Covid have been confirmed involving two schools in Badenoch and Strathspey.

A second teacher at Aviemore Primary School has tested positive for coronavirus and a third pupil at Kingussie High School also has the virus bringing the total to five cases between the two schools.

Contact tracing is now under way for these latest cases.

NHS Highland’s Health Protection Team is working with the headteachers at both schools.

The member of staff was last in class at Aviemore Primary School on Tuesday.

In both cases staff and pupils who have been identified as close contacts have been notified and will be required to self-isolating at home for 10 days starting from the date of last contact.

All others that have not been notified as a close contact can continue as normal if they remain well.

However, if a pupil or member of their household develops symptoms then a test should be booked as soon as possible.

The whole household should isolate if anyone in the household develops symptoms.
