Modernisation plans lodged for Newtonmore filling station forecourt

Newtonmore's filling station could be modernised with the addition of dedicated electric vehicle charging bays and new jet wash bays.

St Albans based Motor Fuel Group has lodged plans with Highland Council's planning service for the additions.

The existing sales building and fuel pump forecourt will be retained.

Environmental Equipment Corporation Limited (EECL) has been commissioned by MBH Design Studio Ltd to undertake a noise assessment of the new operation as the service station is in a predominantly residential area.

These will be introduced as part of a wider remodelling of the service station, replacing the current jet wash bay and two existing corrugated clad outbuildings.

The existing sales building and fuel pump forecourt will be retained.

EECL state in their planning submission: "This application will see the removal of the existing jet wash bay and two corrugated clad outbuildings to make way for five dedicated electric vehicle charging bays, two coin-operated jet wash bays and the electrical infrastructure required to support the charging bays which consists of a new substation within a glass reinforced plastic enclosure...

"The new jet wash bays will be screened on three sides by 3.8m high barriers with a canopy roof over the top of the one of the two bays all of which will reduce noise and water spray to the surroundings.

"The fourth side, facing the petrol forecourt will be open.

"The five EV charging stations will be arranged in a single row and include a continuous, solid rear screen and canopy that projects over the full extent of the bays."
