Mod-openers move to Strathspey to keep the music coming in stunning night
Within hours of opening the Oban Mod, multi-award-winning Scottish supergroup Mànran were in Aviemore to wow more crowds last night.
The Osprey Arena at Macdonald Aviemore Resort was pretty well filled by the time the band made their appearance after some great warm-ups from local stars Calum Macphail and Dylan James Tyrnie.
Macphail delivered his signature accordion-driven tunes to get the arena moving while Tyrnie’s soulful tones and sensitive tunes added an extra dimension to the evening - before the stars exploded onto the stage with a particularly rousing verson of ‘Ailean’.
‘Oran’ and ‘The Loop’ kept up the moment and after a string of Gaelic crackers Kim Carnie delivered the current single standing still. It’s called ‘Standing Still’ and she needed no movement more than that exquisitely moving voice of hers.
The evening was held in aid of Inverness-based Mikeysline and we’ll have an update on the overall result as the details come in.
