A man who posted threatening remarks towards a young woman on the social media site Facebook has had his unpaid work hours increased by a sheriff.

Jason Davidson was ordered to carry out 25 hours of unpaid work for a breach of the Telecommunications Act by making the remarks on Facebook January 14 last year.

But Sheriff David Sutherland heard he had failed to carry out the hours allocated to him.

Sheriff Sutherland revoked the previous order and imposed a new order for Davidson (18) of Church Street, Nairn to undertake 75 hours.

He told Davidson: "Unless these hours are completed you will go to jail."
