A man has been killed in a early morning road accident on the A9 Inverness-Perth road around three miles south of Dalwhinnie. The accident occurred at around 6.18am.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "A road traffic collision occurred involving a north bound vehicle. As a result of this collision the male driver, who was unaccompanied, sustained fatal injuries.

"Further details will not be released until it is confirmed by police that the deceased family members have been informed.

"Anyone with any information relating to this collision please contact police Scotland on 101 or contact their local police station."

The road re-opened at around 12 noon.
