Man fled into forest by Glenmore to try and evade arrest

A man who attempted to evade police and resist arrest has been fined.

Shaun Lannigan (23) tried to make off from police on the Glenmore road on January 26.

Fiscal depute Shay Trainor told Sheriff David Harvie at Inverness Sheriff Court: “At 12.30am police witnesses attended the Pine Marten Bar about an incident.

“They began to see the accused and stopped their vehicle on the Glenmore road and told Lannigan he was under arrest.

“He attempted to make off to a nearby forest and was subdued and an attempt was made to apply handcuffs.

“He spun around and struggled to prevent being handcuffed.

“He was eventually handcuffed and taken to Burnett Road police station (in Inverness).”

Lannigan, of Woodland Crescent, Cambuslang, pleaded guilty to obstructing or hindering arrest.

Sheriff David Harvie fined him a total of £340.
