Man charged after Aviemore PO incident

Police in Badenoch and Strathspey have confirmed that a man has been arrested and charged in connection with a theft from Aviemore Post Office on Grampian Road.

The incident occurred around 1pm yesterday (Thursday, April 5).

A 54-year-old man has been charged and was due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court today (Friday, April 6).

Inspector Mike Middlehurst said: "We’re grateful to the members of the public and staff at the shop for their assistance and vigilance during this incident.

"I would encourage anyone with concerns about suspicious activity within retail premises to report these to staff or to police if required.

"Any business who would like advice on crime prevention including alarms and CCTV systems are encouraged to contact Police Scotland on 101."
