Main cross-country route to be closed by Laggan for essential roadworks
The A86 Newtonmore to Laggan trunk road is to be closed for five nights from this Monday for essential work.
Scotland TranServ, acting on behalf of Transport Scotland, is to carry out essential geotechnical investigation works on one of the region’s main cross country route.
The work will take place at Auchmore and mean that the road has to be closed between 10pm and 6am between Creagdhubh and Cluny Castle.
A Scotland TranServ spokesman said: "The site investigation works are required to facilitate the design and development of an appropriate strengthening solution to restore the integrity of the retaining wall and trunk road.
"The works will be carried out between 10pm and 6am starting on Monday (January 21) and last for up to five nights.
"As the works will involve positioning essential heavy equipment on the carriageway, the road closure between Creagdhubh and Cluny Castle is essential to enable the works to be carried out in safety."
Access for the emergency services through the works will be available at all times.
