A story of blossoming love in the strath will be showcased when the hit TV series, The Mountain, makes its much-anticipated return to the small screen.

The programme, now in its second series, is back on BBC One Scotland on Monday evening, and the background to Ruari Law’s wedding to Adele McCaughey will be one of the strands followed.

CairnGorm Mountain ski patroller Ruari, who during the summer season helps out his gamekeeper father, Frank, on Kinveachy Estate, told the ‘Strathy’ that he was both excited and nervous about seeing parts of his big day shown on TV.

He said: "I’ve seen bits and pieces of the preview. We didn’t want the actual ceremony to be in it, but they filmed on the morning of the wedding and a bit afterwards.

"It was easier because I know the guys who were filming it. They have been up the hill for two winters before they started filming, or I probably wouldn’t have done it.

"They’re my mates. If you say you don’t want something included because it’s personal, they’re really cool about that.

"The TV series is undoubtedly a good thing for the area, and it shows the place in a really good light. I work up the hill in the winter, and so many people approach us about it."

The popularity of the series is an economic boon for the strath, according to the chief executive of the Cairngorms Business Partnership, Mark Tate.

He said: "The Mountain has been fantastic for the area, and we are delighted to see it return for a second series.

"The value of the PR is significant, and the second run has given local businesses the opportunity to demonstrate the wonderful variety we have to offer in the national park as a year-round destination.

"It can only have a really positive impact on the national park’s economy. My family and I will be glued to the second series, as we were for the first, and looking out for all the familiar faces."
