Local Rangers fans make their point at Craig Whyte's castle
A group of Rangers supporters in Grantown made their own feelings known about the plight of their beloved club at the gates of the luxury home of club owner Craig Whyte on the town’s outskirts.
As fans at Ibrox were making their protest ahead of kick-off in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Kilmarnock, local Gers fans braved a freezing gale in the Strathspey capital to get their own point over at Castle Grant.
They left a message on a giant banner for the businessman stating: "140 years of history and tradition can’t be sold Craig".
After having their say, the dozen or so fans left peacefully.
The banner has since been removed, and Whyte has not been sighted in the town.
He is believed to have headed to Monaco after confirming that Rangers were going into administration last week, with the club facing massive debts including £9 million owed to the taxman in VAT and PAYE.
One of those taking part was Mr Brian Love, (42), a Rangers fan since he was six years old and still a regular visitor to Ibrox.
He said: "It was exciting for us to have someone living locally who was taking over Rangers and it helped to put Grantown on the map. I think we were all a bit sceptical when Mr Whyte took over but we gave him the benefit of the doubt.
"Now all we want from him is some clarity – no-one is telling the supporters the truth. Rangers is a tradition; it’s not like running down a normal business. It is something that is in people’s lives and part of them."
