LNER Christmas and New Year tickets to go on sale tomorrow
London North Eastern Railway (LNER) will place hundreds of thousands of tickets on sale for the Christmas and New Year period from tomorrow (Tuesday).
The tickets will be available for dates between Wednesday 21 December 2022 and Friday 6 January 2023 covering LNER services for the full East Coast route.
The service connects Badenoch and Strathspey with stops at Aviemore and Kingussie to the Central Belt, North-East of England, Yorkshire and London.
To help cost-conscious customers secure the best value fares, LNER allows people to sign-up for ticket alert notifications when tickets for new dates are released for sale via the LNER website and App.
More than 26,000 people have so far signed-up for the alerts for the latest ticket release as people prepare to travel home or away this festive period.
David Horne, managing director at LNER, said: “We are looking forward to welcoming people onboard our services this Christmas and New Year period.
"This Christmas we have thousands of our great value fares available and customers will also be able to enjoy a range of exciting and fresh festive food and drink options onboard.
"As always, we recommend customers book direct on the LNER website or app and make a free of charge seat reservation for maximum comfort when travelling with us.”
The best value LNER fares are available when booked direct.
There is no booking fee and customers can receive live journey alerts, select their preferred seat as well as receive £5 when signed-up for LNER’s loyalty programme, LNER Perks with a further two per cent on all future purchases.
More than half a million people are currently signed-up for the popular scheme.
A special festive menu will be introduced onboard LNER services from 30 November until 4 January 2023 in both standard and first class.
LNER continues to welcome record numbers of customers to its services with latest ORR data showing the most customers have returned to its services when compared with pre-pandemic usage than any other franchised operator, topping the table for a record fifth consecutive quarter.
LNER was recently named ‘Best UK Domestic Train Service’ at the Business Traveller Awards 2022.
It follows several other prestigious award wins for the long-distance operator, including ‘App of the Year’ at the UK Business Tech Awards and being named Travel Partner of the Year in the Rail Operator category of the Business Travel Awards Europe 2022 for the second year in a row held in October.
A LNER spokeswoman said: "Customers are always advised to plan ahead. This Christmas will be the first in several years without travel restrictions, so trains are expected to be very popular especially on LNER’s cross-border services between Scotland and England.
Planned engineering works are due to take place at York Railway Station between 27 December 2022 and 1 January 2023. Customers are advised to check before they travel.
The LNER website has the latest information.
As usual no LNER services will operate on Christmas Day or Boxing Day (Monday 26 December) with services finishing earlier on New Year’s Eve.
