Legion clubrooms in Aviemore to close temporarily

The Royal British Legion in Aviemore is closing its clubrooms from the end of tonight for at least the next 16 days.

It follows yesterday's announcement by the Scottish Government for tighter restrictions on the hospitality sector in Scotland. No alcohol can be consumed inside bars, clubs and restaurants from tomorrow after 6pm for that period.

Although the legion at Muirton has a beer garden and alcohol could still be served outside until 10pm, branch organisers have decided against it.

The clubrooms will close until the new restrictions are lifted.

A branch spokesperson said: "It is with a heavy heart but as a result of yesterday's announcement by Nicola Sturgeon we have decided to close The Royal British Legion - Aviemore from tonight until we can reopen again when the new restrictions are lifted.

"We will be open tonight from 5pm-10pm with last orders at 9.30pm and all current rules still in place

"We would like to thank all of our members and customers for supporting us during these difficult times but especially to our staff who have managed to remain upbeat and positive on this rollercoaster."
