Latest A9 works to get under way
The next phase of A9 schemes, as part of the £2M programme of road surface improvements, will get underway at sites 12km south of Inverness and at Ballinluig.
Motorists using the A9 are to see an improved road surface with resurfacing works worth a total of £630,000 undertaken on the southbound carriageway, approximately 12km south of Inverness, and on the northbound carriageway, at Ballinluig.
Works to the 800m section of the southbound A9 to the south of Inverness will start on Thursday December 4 and will take up to two weeks to complete. The works will be carried out between 7am and 7pm each day from Monday to Friday.
Works to the 600m section of the northbound A9 at Ballinluig will start on Monday December 8 and again are likely to take up to two weeks to complete. Again, they will be carried out between 7am and 7pm each day from Monday to Saturday.
“To ensure the safety of road users and road workers”, alternating lane closures will be in place throughout the two week periods at both sites, with the addition of a 10mph convoy system in operation during working hours.
Eddie Ross, Operating Company Representative for the North West Unit, said: “These essential works form part of the recent £2M investment programme on the A9 and will make the road smoother and safer, benefitting road users for years to come.
“Some delays are inevitable and we would therefore encourage motorists to plan their journey ahead, where possible.”
