Landmark Grantown High Street building has new owners
The former Grandview Care Home in Grantown has finally found a new owner but their identity has not yet been confirmed.
An online auction succeeded in finding buyers for the 45-bedroom High Street landmark at a knocked down price of £270,000
The eventual price tag is virtually to half the initial asking price of £450,000 by agents Shepherd Chartered Surveyors at Inverness.
However, it is expected that modernising the former care home could cost more than £1 million.
A spokesperson for the agents said that bidding had actually been brisk once the new asking price of £260,000 had itself been lowered.
He said: "The bidders eventually came in at £240,000."
Finally the hammer on the one-time Palace Hotel went down at £270,000.
It is not known yet who has acquired the Grandview nor precisely what the future of the building will be but that will hopefully be made clear shortly.

The property, dating from the tourism hey-days of the late 1800s, now mainly comprises single occupancy rooms with en-suite facilities.
Grandview closed its doors last summer after the operators went into administration in the spring.
Staff accommodation, affordable housing and a return to use as a hotel have been amongst the hopes expressed by community leaders for the building's future.
